ELDERLY residents at a care home in Kidderminster are gearing up to take part in some avian-themed activities.

Inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which takes place from Saturday, January 25 to Monday, January 27, residents will be taking part in a variety of activities related to our feathered friends, as well as topping up their bird feeders and counting the species in their garden.

Brook Court, in Oldnall Road, will be celebrating the best of British birds by making fat balls with pupils from Foley Park Primary Academy to hang in the home’s garden.

Residents and children from The Railway Children Nursery, who visit regularly and have made pictures for the home, will also enjoy a talk with Sean Cole, a local wildlife expert.

Gill Pratt, home manager, said: “We’re always inspired by RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch, and this year we’ve decided to go one step further and celebrate British birds by making fat balls along with pupils from Foley Park Primary Academy.

“We’re excited to be taking part in a whole host of nature-based activities, especially the talk from Sean Cole, so it will be a great opportunity for everyone to have lots of fun while learning more about our local wildlife.

“We look forward to welcoming the children and Sean to get our celebration off to a flying start!”
