TRAIN enthusiasts in Wyre Forest can adopt their very own engine as part of a new gift package launched by the Severn Valley Railway.

The heritage railway has recently set up an online shop to raise money for its Fight Back Fund - launched to combat the loss of income during lockdown - and the Adopt an Engine package is now on sale from £30.

There are four levels of gift packages - bronze, silver, gold and platinum - and each comes with a selection of exclusive merchandise.

The SVR has included the popular SR 34027 Taw Valley amongst its selection of locomotives, thanks to the agreement and generosity of its owners.

Everyone who buys the top level package for the engine will be entered into a prize draw for an once-in-a-lifetime VIP experience at the Severn Valley Railway.

It’s not just steam enthusiasts who are catered for - there’s also a selection of diesel locomotives available across the Severn Valley Railway fleet including both Class 9 and Class 14 engines.

All proceeds from sales of Adopt an Engine packages and other merchandise will be used to support the Fight Back Fund.

The emergency campaign has already welcomed more than £650,000 to keep it ticking over on a care and maintenance basis during its enforced closure.

The SVR ran its last passenger service on March 15 and closed its associated pubs, cafes and shops. It has also had to cancel a number of major revenue-generating events, such as the Spring Steam and Diesel Galas, its popular 1940s weekends, and the celebrations that would have been taking place later this month to mark the 50th anniversary of its public train services.
