A DETERMINED duo were swamped in mud after they scrambled, jumped and crawled their way to their fundraising total in memory of loved ones.

Evesham couple Jade West and William Green collected £1,010 for Cancer Research UK after challenging themselves in the Devil Mud Run in Cheltenham, where they ran a hilly 9km course across rugged countryside, woodlands and faced over 31 obstacles, where they ran, swam, jumped and crawled their way to the end of the course.

Miss West took on the challenge in honour of her Grandfather, Michael Smith, who passed away in January. Mr Smith battled for 12 years with cancer, five years with chronic kidney disease and several brain tumours over his last three years. Miss West was determined to keep the memory of her much-loved Grandfather Michael alive as she took part in the run.

Mr Green took on the challenge for family friend Dot Wright, who sadly lost her battle in September last year.

Miss West said: ‘We would both like to thank everyone who has supported us and donated to Cancer Research UK. To have ran in memory of two amazing people makes us immensely proud."

Cancer Research UK fund scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner, as well as providing valuable information to the public.
