The Wychavon Youth Bus made its first stop at Norton Lenchwick this week to provide some Easter activities for young people.

Now in its tenth year, the Youth Bus provides a mobile drop-in space for young people aged 8 to 17 years old and helps to reach out to rural communities.

The 57-seater converted coach offers a variety of information on a range of topics and issues promoting healthy lifestyles for young people. There is also a Wii, Xbox One, PS4, TV/ DVD, laptops, broadband, various art equipment, board games and more.

Young people of all ages dropped by with curious parents who were keen to see the facility make a stop at their village hall.

The session was arranged by Wendy Cope, the Parish Clerk for Norton Lenchwick, who is working to breathe new life into the local community and get the village hall used by people of all ages.

Wendy said: “The kids in our village had a magnificent time on the Youth Bus. It's a great way to help them feel more involved in the community and be part of village life. We are already looking forward to the next visit.”

Rob Mace, Wychavon’s Youth Bus Officer, said: “It was great to welcome new young people on board the bus. A key role of the Youth Bus is to engage and support our local communities, especially those in rural areas where fewer activities are available and young people may be more socially excluded. It is also great to see parishes and parents being pro-active in supporting their village”.

The Youth Bus visits a variety of locations each month and will be in Bretforton on 8 May, Cropthorne on 9 May, Pershore College on 14 May and Evesham College on 16 May. It will return to Norton Lenchwick on Wednesday 29 May during half term.
