A SCHOOL in Malvern is one of ten schools in the country to be awarded a Silver Medal in the ‘World Book Day’ Display Competition 2018.

There were 70,000 children throughout the country who were involved in the competition and, in addition to the Silver Medal, the school has won £1,000 worth of books.

The design that so impressed the judges is entitled ‘Flying High with Reading’.

The display involved all children from Reception to Year 8 and the concept for the display was a book shelf with a fallen book, from which the words are literally flying out in the form of butterflies.

Kate Reid, the Colwall school's head of English, said: "It really was fantastic that the whole school worked together to put the display together.

"We encourage a love of reading throughout the school and are proud that often our older children read with the younger children.

"You are never too old to listen to a story and this is the central message in our display - stories are for everyone."
