A TEACHER has left a Worcester school after being arrested and charged for alleged sexual offences committed 'outside of school.'

A spokesman for Tudor Grange Academy, in Bilford Road, said staff were "shocked" at the allegations, which led to the teacher's departure from the school.

He said: "We remain shocked and saddened that a now former teacher from our school was arrested and charged last month for alleged offences committed in his personal life, outside of school.

"In line with our safeguarding procedures, as soon as we were informed by the police, the teacher was immediately suspended pending an investigation.

"We can now confirm that he is no longer an employee of the school and crucially that none of the offences being investigated by the police are in any way connected to the school.

"All parents and students have been made aware of this situation."

The school has said all school employees go through a "rigorous" recruitment process including an enhanced DBS check, the barred list check and complete regular safeguarding training.

The statement said: "We can confirm that this teacher passed all the necessary checks and completed all the training requirements.

"All teachers are expected to be role models for students and the standards expected of teachers at our school are very high, which made this news even more of a shock.

The school said it was unable to comment further as a police investigation was ongoing.

He said: "We would like to thank the police for their support throughout this time".

South Worcestershire police were unable to provide further details.
