AN emergency services pest has been banned from making further nuisance 999 calls - unless he is in genuine need.

Colin Stone, 53, of Rodborough Drive, Warndon, Worcester was made subject to a criminal behaviour order at Worcester Magistrates Court this week.

The CBO was granted following his conviction for the offence of persistently making use of a public electronic communications network for the purpose of causing annoyance inconvenience or needless anxiety to another committed between October 28 last year and February 3 this year.

The CBO, granted for two years, prohibits him from contacting the emergency services (including any non-emergency numbers used to reach those services) unless it is a genuine emergency; refusing to engage in a medical assessment and subsequent treatment when ambulance crew or police have attended his address; failing to attend GP appointments without good reason, when such appointment has been made as a result of him contacting the GP surgery to make the appointment; behaving in an aggressive or threatening manner towards emergency service workers or be verbally abusive towards them

Stone is also required to contact the Crisis Team 01905 681915 when in need of help and support who will then assess whether the emergency services need to be called to attend to his welfare.

At an earlier hearing the defendant arrived without a solicitor and was not able to give a clear answer to the legal clerk's question - whether he accepted or challenged the making of the CBO.

It was therefore set down for a contested hearing on Friday which resulted in the CBO being made.
