FORMER Warriors academy supremo Andrew Stanley has been handed the job of forwards coach at Gloucester.

Having presided over a flourishing Sixways youth set-up, he quit Worcester last year to take up the same role at Kingsholm, the club where he enjoyed a lengthy and successful playing career.

However, following Carl Hogg’s decision to leave his position of forwards coach at Gloucester to become head coach under new Warriors director of rugby Dean Ryan, Stanley has now been promoted at Gloucester.

Gloucester director of rugby Nigel Davies said: “Stan has impressed everyone at the club over the past 12 months with his rugby knowledge and also his strong work ethic. He very quickly earned everyone’s respect when he joined us last summer.

“He’s challenging himself and moving from what some might say is a slightly safer role, but he’s more than qualified to take on this new position, I know he’s excited about it and I’m confident that he’s going to be a great success.”
