SAM Vesty, the former England, Leicester Tigers and Bath fly-half, is in line to join the Worcester Warriors coaching staff.
The 31-year-old, who is a level three RFU coach and was released by Bath at the end of last season, will work as assistant backs coach alongside Shane Howarth.
Vesty’s main responsibility will be to work with the older players in the new-look Sixways academy with a view to helping them make the transition to the first XV.
The appointment underlines director of rugby Dean Ryan’s approach, with the club set to have a full-time, two-man coaching team to look after the backs, compared to Richard Hill’s regime when there wasn’t a specified backs coach at all.
On being informed he was surplus to requirements at the Rec, Vesty, who has not officially retired from the sport, was initially on the look-out for a player-coach role, so it remains to be seen if he will join Warriors solely as a coach.
