BOSS Rod Brown reckons four more wins will be enough to cement Bromsgrove Rovers' place in the play-offs.

Rovers are second in the Southern League Division One Midlands table following last Saturday's 3-1 win in testing conditions against Dunstable Town.

The manager believes Rovers are closing in on a top-five finish and wants them to take another step towards that goal at home against Leighton Town on Saturday (3pm).

Brown said: "We have got 12 games left and if we win four more I think we will be in the play-offs. That's the first objective and the second is to finish as high as we can."

He added: "We had a great result on Saturday considering they had beaten Brackley the week before.

"It was a very difficult game. I didn't want to play the game beforehand because it was dangerous, bearing in mind what happended to Paul Carty, who broke his leg on a pitch not as bad.

"I was very nervous but the referee deemed it playable. I wrote out my team but I changed it when I saw the pitch and it paid off.

"I put the players in who could mix it in the mud and we came out with the desired result. It wasn't a spectacle but we adapted."

Brown is also unhappy at the state of the Victoria Ground pitch but says his team will have to make do when Leighton visit on the back of three wins in their last five matches.

"That's going to be a tough game for us," Brown said. "I have not been happy with our pitch - there are far too many games played on it and we lose home advantage."

Midfielder Marlon Walters, signed from Willenhall Town this week, is available for selection but skipper Mark Taylor has been ruled out for another fortnight with a broken hand.
