STOURPORT Swifts boss Phil Mullen is convinced his side will avoid relegation from Southern League Division One Midlands.

The Walshes Meadow club are perched perilously close to the drop-zone, just two places above bottom club Berkhamsted Town.

Their cause was not helped by a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Sutton Coldfield Town last Saturday.

But prior to that, they had embarked on a mini-revival by taking five points from three games and Mullen believes he has the players to pull clear.

He said: "I think we have still got enough in the tank to not be overly concerned with where we are. I have got too much quality on the pitch and I am sure we will get it sorted.

"I think we have just got to accept that we are a bit up and down at the moment. It's not ideal after three half-decent results but it's not a panic situation.

"After the recent improvement, I wouldn't say it's back to square one but we struggled for much of the game against Sutton. We were OK until they scored. We have got to take a hit like we did on Saturday and bounce back from it."

Swifts face a crunch game when fourth-from-bottom Rushall Olympic visit on Saturday (3pm).

Mullen added: "They are all important games for us. I have said we need to get something out of every game whether it be a performance or a result."

Midfielder Craig Webb is the only injury doubt after aggravating a groin problem.

Swifts were due to field fringe players in Tuesday's Worcestershire Royal Infirmary Cup second round match with Pershore Town, which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
