THE Worcester club’s Tom Stock took the local honours in the city’s half-marathon as around 1,000 runners pounded the lanes around Oddingley and Himbleton.

Tim Carter, from Birmingham Running, Athletics and Triathlon Club (BRAT), triumphed in the full marathon, which also started and finished in windy conditions at Sixways.

Stock completed the 13.1-mile half-marathon in an impressive 1:15:06 and was followed by Halesowen duo Sam Lloyd-Perks (1:16.18) and Mark Hadley (1:16.48).

Worcester’s Sarah Heatley secured third place in the women’s event in 1:32.08.

In the full marathon, Carter achieved a winning time of 2:44.46, with Bournemouth’s Jon Sharkey (2:45.05) in second and BRAT’s Daniel Robinson (2.46.02) taking third.

Caroline Hemming, from 100 Marathon Club, was the first woman home in 3:23.41.

The event was organised by Tempo Events and is expected to raise thousands of pounds for St Richard’s Hospice.
