OUR push for the play-offs will not be over until it's mathematically impossible.

You never know what might happen with the way the season has gone so far.

We will keep going to finish as high as possible and get as many points as we can.

It is hard to say it's been a disappointing season but it's been an opportunity that we have missed.

The league has been very tight with a lot of teams capable of beating each other.

It just needed a team to take it by the scruff of the neck and I don't think anybody has really done that.

If a team had pushed the boat out a little bit they could have taken the title by 10 to 15 points.

We have just been so up and down all the way through the campaign, having a poor period followed by a good spell.

Early December wasn't a great period but we had a good run in January that included the FA Trophy win against Burton.

Then we lost our way a bit but the last couple of results and performances have been good.

We have had that opportunity to break into the top five and always fallen short.

There have been periods when we have, say, only won one game, drawn three and lost one.

A win against Leigh in December would have put us fourth in the table and we did everything but win the game.

We were 1-0 up, well on top and ended up losing 2-1. We didn't play that badly, just made a couple of mistakes. The defeat at Farsley in January was similar.

If you look back on the season, we have been punished for every mistake, which makes you wonder if it's not meant to be.

It's just disappointing because I think we have gone very close.

We said at the start of the season we were looking to finish in the top 10 again and we are well on target to do that.

If things went really well and we were lucky with injuries and suspensions then we could push ourselves into the play-offs.

I still go back to the start of the season when we were without Adam Webster and Mark Danks, although Troy Wood did well.

When you look at how well Craig Wilding has done, then if we had all four strikers competing for places at the start that could have been the difference.

Top-scorer Danks has scored 18 goals and Wilding 17, while Webster has been guaranteed between 15 and 30 in previous seasons.

There are five games still to go and the players are fighting for contracts for next year.

I will judge them over the season, not five games, but they can leave a lasting impression between now and the end of this month.

Reaching the play-offs is a long shot but we have just got to keep going.

We are capable of winning the last five games and want to take it to the last match at Harrogate if we can.
