WORCESTER Fencing Club finished second in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire foil team competition.
The city side of Simon Webb, Alex Nicol and James Hill defeated Stourbridge B' in the first round and Redditch women in the second before meeting Stourbridge A' in the semi-finals.
After falling behind by eight points, Worcester closed the gap to 20-19 and there was little between them as they entered the final bout. With time about to expire, Worcester surged ahead to win 45-42.
The final against Redditch Youth started with close bouts but once the town team found their rhythm, they went ahead and held on for their first county title.
