THE sun certainly shone on 18-year-old Josh Bryan as he lifted the Scratch Cup for the third successive year at Worcester Golf and Country Club’s finals day.

Scratch player Bryan, who equalled the club’s course record this year, beat Anthony Ottaway 6&5.

The Oliver Farr Trophy went to Ted Pickering and Terry Band Trophy to Charlie Francis, while Huntington Whiteley honours were picked up by Sarah Collins.

Wendy Leighton-Morris collected the Ladies’ Club Bowl and the Family Foursomes was secured by Michelle and Philip Bell.

The Veterans Cup went to Peter Wylde, Peter Reynolds Trophy to Peter Eccles, Club Cup to Tony English, Clarke Cup to Lloyd Sussex and Francis Marrian honours to Paul Pearson.

In the September Thursday Medal, Andy Baker (73 gross 5 handicap 68 nett) won Division One on count-back from Don Hooper (72-4-68) and Richard Plews (71-3-68).

The lowest gross prize went to Plews.

Tim Grubb recorded 76-14-62 to win Division Two with John Elliott (80-16-64) runner-up and Terry Brewer (84-18-66) third.

Maggie Thompson won the ladies’ LGU Breakthrough Brooch and Bronze Division Two with 69 nett.

Gail Halford was runner-up and Silver Division winner with 73.

The open three-ball alliance went to a home team consisting of Jean Armstrong, Janet Hunt and Jenny Cormack on 81 points.

Runners-up, also from Boughton Park, were Sarah Collins, Leighton-Morris and Frances Grieveson with 80.

Armstrong also picked up the Macmillan Trophy with 37 stableford points, beating Chris Scott on count-back.

The Medal and Duncan Clarke Trophy was lifted by Pat Boocock with 72 nett.

Margaret-Ann Stocker finished second on count-back and Bronze Division Two was won by Janet Hunt.

Luke Perry (77-10-67) lifted the juniors’ September medal with Edward Pickering (81-10-71) runner-up.
