A SPELLBINDING display from Dan Nti inspired Worcester City to a sensational 5-0 victory over Stalybridge Celtic.

The winger netted twice and set up two other goals as Worcester thrilled their fans with a dominant National League North performance at Aggborough.

After seeing his cross turned home by Celtic right-back Peter Wylie, Nti struck twice in quick succession to put City 3-0 up at half-time.

Nti then set up Amadou Bakayoko before Jack Higgins became the second Stalybridge player to score an own goal as the Blue and Whites secured their biggest win of the season.

Following his late equaliser against Nuneaton Town on Saturday, Bakayoko was handed a starting place as he replaced experienced striker Lee Hughes, who dropped to the bench.

It took Bakayoko less than five minutes before he got his first chance as he headed Danny Jackman’s corner wide.

Apart from Aaron Chalmers’ early volley which whistled wide, it was all Worcester in an impressive opening period.

With Sam Minihan bombing forward and Nti and Bakayoko combining well, City caused the visitors all sorts of problems.

Jordan Murphy was presented with a glorious opportunity to open the scoring on nine minutes.

Shaun Donnellan slid the ball through to the forward but keeper Tony McMillan did well to rush out and save his effort.

Worcester deservedly broke the deadlock on the 20th minute mark when Nti drilled in a cross which Wylie guided past McMillan.

Nti was having an excellent game and he quickly fired City into a 3-0 lead thanks to two goals in three minutes.

After Donnellan ran into traffic, the ball rolled through to Nti who managed to squeezed his effort underneath McMillan to give City a 2-0 lead.

Nti grabbed his second on 30 minutes when he turned Matthew Hughes before finding the bottom corner.

It was a dream spell for City, who were attacking at will, and Bakayoko could have scored a fourth before the break as he glanced a header wide.

Stalybridge looked dazed and confused as they trudged off the pitch for half-time and the onslaught continued after the interval.

Donnellan and Jackman fired over before Nti produced another moment of magic.

The winger whipped in a wonderful cross from the right for Bakayoko, who headed home from close range in the 54th minute.

Things then went from bad to worse for the Greater Manchester side as Higgins put Minihan’s cross into his own net.

With a five-goal cushion, joint-managers Carl Heeley and Matt Gardiner brought on Lee Hughes, Deon Burton and debutant Marius Ologu as Nti left the field to a round of applause.

Celtic came back into it with Dale Wright shooting narrowly wide but Worcester were also resilient at the back as they saw out a memorable night’s work.
