JOINT-manager Carl Heeley says Amadou Bakayoko must use his “petulant” sending off in Worcester City’s 1-1 National League North draw at Boston United as a learning curve.

The Walsall loanee was brandished Worcester’s 10th red card of the season when he kicked out at Boston defender Liam Marrs moments after being booked for time-wasting.

Heeley said he did not believe the 20-year-old received any protection from referee Robert Massey-Ellis but insisted Bakayoko should not have let his frustrations get the better of him.

His dismissal left City to see out the remaining few minutes in Lincolnshire with 10 men.

“Amadou is a young lad with a lot to learn in the game and we all make mistakes,” Heeley said.

“He was playing against two experienced centre-halves and I didn’t feel the referee gave him any protection.

“I thought he was inconsistent in the way he refereed the two sets of central defenders and the forwards as I thought that he gave a lot of fouls to Boston.

“But that is my opinion and Amadou has got himself involved (in an incident) at the end and it was a bit of petulance.

“But this will be a learning curve for him and I am sure he won’t do that again.”

Bakayoko saw his effort deflect off fellow Walsall loanee Jordan Murphy to put Worcester back on level terms just before the break.

Jay Rollins had given promotion-chasing Boston the lead at the Jakemans Stadium.
