WORCESTER Nomads skipper Ben Schiffmann has hailed former Eastnor bowler Tareq Jamil and Oli Swift after their match-winning partnership against Burghill, Tillington and Weobley.

Jamil and Swift produced a century stand for the seventh wicket in around 15 overs in Nomads’ 170-run win in Worcestershire League Division One.

Nomads were wobbling at 111-6 when Jamil hammered 73 from 43 balls and Swift made 59 not out to propel Nomads to 263-8.

Rich Henry snapped up 4-47 and Innocent Kaia took 3-7 as Burghill were shot out for 93.

Schiffmann said: “Our top three batsman did what I had asked of them and set us up for for an above par score on the wicket.

“Tareq and Swift batted superbly to take the game away from Burghill.”

The skipper was delighted with his side’s bowling display.

“I knew early wickets were important to give us the best chance of getting 24 points because Burghill have a strong top five,” he said.

“Henry was excellent as usual and Innocent bowled with excellent control considering he had only got off a 26-hour flight 24 hours earlier. It was a great start to the season.”
