FORMER Worcester Warriors player Richard de Carpentier helped GB Lions to the Sevens and the City title after beating the GB Royals 27-14 in an exciting final at Allianz Park, Saracens.
Both teams won all four of their pool matches and progressed past Samurai and France in the semis to set up a tense and captivating final.
The 12-man GB squad for the Rio Olympics is soon to be named.
And the final showed how much was at stake for both sets of players.
GB Sevens play at the Mitsubishi Motors Exeter Sevens this weekend before travelling to Gdynia, Poland for the third round of the Rugby Europe Grand Prix Series on July 16 and 17.
