PERSHORE Town recorded an excellent 2-1 away win in Midland League Division One at third-placed Leicester Road to ease their relegation concerns.
Town scored after nine minutes when a flowing move of more than a dozen passes resulted in Ben Lane threading a well-weighted ball in behind the centre half for Tunde Ajibade to score with his left foot on the angle past the keeper into the far corner.
The visitors extended their lead after 35 minutes when Reece Jacobs steadied himself from 25 yards and scored with a fierce strike into the top right corner.
Ajibade missed a good opportunity to put the game beyond doubt after 55 minutes when once again put through by Lane but he fired wide when well positioned.
Town's midfield and defence were superb against continued Leicester Road pressure supported by the excellent Andy Yarnold in goal.
The hosts' pressure finally resulted in a consolation goal after 82 minutes for Matt Stenson who finished his close-range header from a rebound off the bar.
Town moved up to 15th and host champions Bromsgrove Sporting today at the King George V Stadium (3pm).
