KING'S School Worcester pupil Tamara Marsden won a tournament organised by Worcestershire Junior Chess Academy with 17 points.
She did her school, who hosted the event, proud by being the first female player to win an academy tournament outright.
Second was Theo Rodgers from Bredon Hill Academy on 16.
Four players with 15 won bronze medals.
They were Max Wheeler from Abberley Hall School, Jacob Gwilliam and Pranav Mayilvahanan from King’s St Alban’s and Gokulkrishna Sivakumar from St Peter’s, Harborne.
Oliver Shotton and Finn Worth from King’s St Alban’s and the prize winners also won golden tickets to enter the Worcestershire Megafinal of the Delancey UK Chess Challenge on Sunday.
Prizes were presented by John Wrench, Worcestershire team captain and chess coach at King’s St Alban’s.
