PAUL Meakin triumphed in The Worcestershire Golf Club’s Seniors’ Open by the narrowest of margins.
The event was a sell-out with more than 90 contestants from 30 clubs participating, some from as far away as Halifax.
But it was the home players who dominated as Meakin claimed the title on 41 stableford points. He pushed fellow member Tom Wood, also on 41, into second place over the last three holes, with Fulford Heath’s K French coming third on 39.
Age Division A was won by Brian Massey (38 points) ahead of Roger Brierly (38) and Sam Mcleod (36).
Barry Caswell won Age Division B with 37 points ahead of fellow home members Roger Blackwell and Derry Hanratty. Stan Jones registered the best gross score and the Visitors’ Prize went to K Wittin from Stourbridge GC.
