THE Droitwich Tennis Club women's Aegon team were crowned champions of Division One with a 6-0 victory at Redditch.

Dee Smith won 6-0, 6-0, Marelize Yorke 6-3, 6-3, Penny Maidment 6-2, 6-4 and Karen Dobson 6-3, 6-2 in the singles.

In the doubles Smith and Yorke triumphed 6-2, 6-1 as did Maidment and Dobson 6-4, 6-2.

The men's Aegon A team lost 4-2 at Barnt Green as Rich Clive won his singles 6-1, 6-3 and teamed up with Joe Maidment to take the doubles 7-6, 6-3.

But James Nam lost 6-2, 7-5, Ian Bowman 6-1, 6-3 and Maidment 7-5, 6-1 alongside a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 doubles defeat for Nam and Bowman.

The B team thrashed Redditch B 6-0 to boost their Division Three survival hopes.

There were straight-set singles wins for Eric Cartelet, John Moran and Ben Steel followed by a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the doubles.

The C team lost 5-1 at home to a strong Hallow B side to leave them fourth in Division Four.

Ricky Hollander won his singles 3-6, 6-2, 1-0.

But there were defeats for Chris Passey 6-0, 6-1, Bob Smith 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 and Sam Reavey 6-0, 6-1 as well as both doubles duos in straight sets.

Droitwich men's C team continued their Herefordshire and Worcestershire Summer League Division Four East campaign with a 6-0 defeat at Worcester C.

Kevin Hodges and Steel lost 6-4, 6-4 and 6-2, 6-2 as did Ian Ross and Carlos Segura 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 7-5 and David Lamb and James Stanford 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-0.

The women's C team had a losing draw at David Lloyd Dudley.

Aileen Baker and Alexa Dean won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 and 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 while Elizabeth Fielden and Christina Sellers triumphed 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 and lost 6-0, 6-1.

Elizabeth French and Diane Owen fell 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2.

The Droitwich mixed E team lost 3-1 to Bewdley D but claimed a winning draw over Halesowen in Division Six East.

Against Bewdley Jackie Holliday and Phil Woodhouse won 6-4, 6-2 and lost 6-3, 6-4 with Eileen Probyn-Skinner and Steve Whittaker going down 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 and 6-0, 7-6.

Julia Rollit and Philip Shaw and Probyn-Skinner and Reavey both had one victory and one defeat against Halesowen but Spa edged it 34-32 on games.

Alex Harris, Ava Clive, Oliver Elvins and Holly Dufty played in 9U Mixed Division Two against Worcester and impressed despite losing 6-4.

There was a victory for the 10U Mixed Division Two side over Ross-on-Wye with success for Jack Fletcher, Joel Park and Holly Stevens.
