MANOR Park crowned their own grand slam champions when they held their annual Robfest competition in sweltering conditions.
Club member Rob Redman was the brainchild of the men’s doubles marathon event which featured group stages in a round robin format.
Playing short sets to six games, the group winners, runners up, third and fourth placed players then go forwards to four other groups, called Wimbledon, US Open, French Open and Australian Open.
Matches in this knock-out stage were kept to one short set with the final in each group being deciding in best of three sets.
The hot weather took its toll on the 20 pairs that competed, but Gwen Andreiux & Ben Shaw (Wimbledon), Rory Guilding & Geoff Smith (US Open), Ellie Fleming & Tobie Timmermans (French Open) and Steve Lewis & Dave Hallam (Australian Open) took the titles.
