WORCESTERSHIRE batsman Joe Clarke was in the field for England Lions against South Africa on a disappointing opening day of the match at New Road.
Rain and bad light frustrated both teams today in the Proteas final warm-up game before the first Test against England at Lord’s next Thursday.
South Africa captain Dean Elgar was an early wicket to fall after the Lions had chosen to field first.
Elgar was caught by wicketkeeper Sam Billings off the bowling of George Garton for five.
Heino Kuhn, 30 not out, and the experienced Hashim Amla, 16 not out, helped the tourists to 58-1 at the close.
Only 20 overs were possible today.
The weather forecast looks better for tomorrow and Saturday.
