GOOD weather welcomed The Worcestershire’s new lady captain Susan Boardman to the first tee for the traditional drive-in.
The event, which was attended by the club captain John Williams and a large gathering of lady members, followed a putt-out by immediate past lady captain Elsie Kelsall and preceded a 12-hole competition.
Those who best guessed the length of the putts were Jill Exell and Evelyn Hill while the drive-in winners were new member Sue Birch, Jenny Musson and Pauline Belsham.
Jenny Musson was again in the prizes when she took first place in the 12-hole alliance together with Pauline Savage and another new member Fiona Lucas.
Their 54 stableford points were two ahead of Cynthia Guest, Jill Brierly and Ursula Pearson with Jen Bishop, Kate Foster and Davina Taylor third on 51.
Meanwhile, the second of The Worcestershire’s winter mixed competitions took place on a sunny but cold day at the Malvern Wells course.
A new pairing, Penny Stevenson and Chris Hardy, showed themselves a force to reckoned with, beating 17 other pairs to first place with 46 points.
They were closely followed by the reliable Liz Pool and Peter Hill in second on 45 with Jill and Roger Brierly taking the third slot on 43.
