WORCESTER Referees Society have granted long-serving member Roger King a life membership.

The highlight of King's career in officiating was being linesman in Wrexham’s historic FA Cup third-round victory over Arsenal in 1992.

He passed the referees' exam in 1978 and was linesman in the Southern League for one year before refereeing nearly 400 games in the competition over 17 years.

King was a Football League assistant referee for two years and also secretary of the Southern League Referees Society for 10 years.

His time with the Worcester society has seen him serve as chairman, vice-chairman, honorary secretary, social secretary and press secretary.
