THE Harkaway Club point-to-point at Chaddesley Corbett beat the weather unlike several other higher-profile fixtures.

Conditions were testing but the meeting attracted plenty of runners with two races divided on the day and 109 horses faced the starter.

Callum Bickers-Price, 20, had a day to remember with the Bromyard rider scoring his first success on 11-year-old Crowded Room in the novice riders.

Employed by Abberley National Hunt trainer Henry Oliver, Bickers-Price also has a small team of horses he prepares for point-to-pointing.

After just two rides last year he suffered a head injury and was out for eight months.

He said: "We acquired Crowded Room for 1200 guineas after he ran 31 times in Ireland for just eight placings.

"Nobody else wanted him. He has a few quirks but jumps like a stag.

"I’m not the most stylish but to win by 25 lengths in testing ground in a 16-runner field I’m over the moon with the horse.

"I cannot thank everyone enough who has helped me get to where I am.”

Bridgnorth trainer Phil Rowley and jockey Alex Edwards got on the scoresheet with Battle Dust in the men’s open.

Eastnor trainer Nickie Sheppard saddled Ballycahane in the concluding three-mile maiden and the eight-year-old rewarded connections by providing young Milo Herbert with his second winner.

Division one of the restricted went to the Welsh raider Bleu Et Or under Hannah Lewis to delight part-owner Maurice Seabourn who lives near Chaddesley.

Lewis also partnered War Path, the horse she trains at Holdfast near Upton, to land the conditions race.

Hindlip trainer Tom Weston saddled runners in both divisions of the maiden, Twotwothree and The Late Legend, but both finished second.
