WORCESTER Warriors wing Josh Adams has been named Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month for December.

The uncapped Welshman has climbed to the top of the league’s try-scoring charts after crossing the whitewash nine times this term.

He scored in six straight Premiership games, including a double in Warriors’ crucial 23-8 win over relegation rivals London Irish.

The 22-year-old’s form has also increased his hopes of being called-up for Wales ahead of next month’s Six Nations.

And Rugby World Cup winner Will Greenwood has described Adams as a wing with “raw power, real balance and deft feet”.

“Josh is having one of those purple patches where he would score if the opposition blindfolded him,” said the ex-England ace.

“Cricketers talk of seeing the ball like a football, golfers of feeling as if the hole is as big as a bucket when putting. Almost invincible.

“Adams is big and quick which is a great start. But he adds to this raw power with real balance and deft feet and continually improving his understanding of back three play.

“It would be remarkable were he not to get some international recognition in 2018.”

Adams becomes the first Warriors player to clinch the accolade since Francois Hougaard won it in March 2016.

Adams said: “I’m very happy to have won the award. I’ve worked hard in training this season so this is a really nice reward.

“Our team performances recently have been the most pleasing thing and I’m just enjoying being part of the Warriors team.”

The flying back was judged by a panel of experts as the player who made the biggest impact in the League over the month.

He was involved in a four-way battle for the latest title, eventually beating Wasps’ duo Danny Cipriani and Dan Robson and Exeter Chiefs’ back-rower Don Armand to the title.

Adams wins a trophy and a £250 donation to the charity of his choice. He has chosen to donate the money to Warriors’ official charity partner Acorns Children’s Hospice.
