LES Sanders saw off a competitive field to win Swan AC’s second contest of 2018 at Tibberton.
The canal meeting was pegged across two halves with the wooded section producing the top weights courtesy of a bounty of chub.
Starting on peg 10 with bread punch, Sanders was rewarded with a good chub early on along with a few roach before a change to maggot produced another big chub to secure a match-winning total of 7-9-8.
Runner-up Keith Hunt had to wait until the second half before a whopping four-pound chub accepted his worm bait offered in the track on peg seven. A few punch fish brought up a total of 6-6-8.
Third place went to Len Merrill whose brace of chub along with a solitary skimmer and a few perch, all caught on worm and pinkie, saw him bag 6-5-11. The section prizes went to Mick Samson and Rich Brewer.
The next Swan AC contest is on the navigation section of the canal at Stoke Works on February 25.
