WORCESTER City Amateur Boxing Club's Owen Cooper beat Welsh number two Patrick Larkin in Coleford.

The national youth welterweight champion threw strong left and right combinations while his Chepstow opponent replied with counter punches.

The boys went the full three rounds but Cooper took the honours on a unanimous decision.

Cooper will now train hard for the Three Nations Championships in Scotland on Saturday, May 19, representing England.

He is also set to box competitively in Worcester for the first time in two years.

Cooper captains the Central All Stars against the Southern Elite in a showcase for under 18s boxers on Sunday, June 17, at Bishop Perowne College's sports hall.

The city club hope Worcester boxing fans will come out in force to support the young fighter and the rest of the team which includes several national champions and England representatives.
