CALLUM Ferguson had a debut to remember for Worcestershire Rapids with 192 runs in a record-breaking six-wicket win over Leicestershire Foxes in the Royal London One-Day Cup at Blackfinch New Road.

The Australian batsman was drafted in as a replacement for compatriot Travis Head and responded by smashing his runs from 143 balls with five sixes and 21 fours.

Table-topping Rapids overhauled Foxes' imposing 376-4 with 16 deliveries left.

Ferguson got the County’s highest individual List A score, beating Tom Moody’s 180 at Surrey in 1994.

He produced an awesome display of hitting with excellent support from Joe Clarke, Daryl Mitchell and Brett D’Oliveira in securing a fourth cup win in five matches.

There were just seven needed when he was caught behind off Varun Aaron and he left the ground to handshakes from many of the Foxes players and a standing ovation.

Rapids' total of 380-4 was their highest in 50-over cricket against first-class opposition, surpassing the 361-8 made at Leicestershire last summer.

Foxes' total was their highest in List A cricket against a first-class county but Ferguson and his team-mates made mincemeat of the target.

Cameron Delport struck early sixes off Joe Leach and Charlie Morris and although he departed when bowled by Ed Barnard for 20 his aggression set the tone for the innings.

Ben Raine was promoted up the order to join Paul Horton for a second-wicket stand of 131 in 20 overs.

Horton’s half-century came off 44 balls and Raine needed only two more to reach his.

Barnard's return forced a breakthrough as Raine perished at short mid-wicket for 83 off 76 balls with two sixes and eight fours.

Moeen Ali had Horton caught behind for 79 off 80 balls with nine fours as he attempted to cut.

Mark Cosgrove and Colin Ackermann ensured Foxes maintained their momentum with another century stand.

Cosgrove (66) raced to a 39-ball 50 and the hundred partnership took just 66 deliveries.

He provided Barnard with his third success when turning the ball into the hands of backward square leg.

Ackermann with 71 not out off 57 balls with one six and six fours and Tom Wells with 32 off 16 deliveries continued to blaze away.

Rapids suffered an early blow in reply when England all-rounder Moeen was caught at point off Raine for a duck.

But Clarke and Ferguson were soon into their stride and peppered the boundary as they added 140 in 20 overs.

Ferguson bristled with attacking intent from the start and collected three boundaries in an over from Aaron.

Clarke with 62 off 61 balls was just as aggressive and had just lofted his third six when he holed out to deep mid-wicket off Ackermann.

Mitchell, a century-maker in Sunday's win over Lancashire, continued his fine form in a stand of 88 with Ferguson.

He raced to 50 off 29 balls before clipping Neil Dexter to deep mid-wicket.

But Ferguson reached his hundred off 87 balls with two sixes and 12 fours.

D’Oliveira (54no) gave him further admirable support in a 137 stand as Rapids stormed over the finishing line.
