THERE were some superb showings from members of Worcester Swimming Club’s A and B teams in the third round of the Nuneaton and District Junior League.

The young swimmers’ performances in Rugby and Walsall also secured the two sides a place in the final of the premier Midlands competition which will be held on September 8.

Among the winners was Asha Mahanta who won the girls’ nine and under 25-metres backstroke with a time of 23.18 seconds and the girls’ nine and under 25m backstroke in 20.31.

Elizabeth Annis swam an 18.64 to come first in the girls’ nine and under 25m butterfly before finishing in 16.93 to win the girls’ nine and under 25m freestyle while her brother David won the boys’ 12 and under 50m backstroke with a time of 32.62.

Worcester’s A and B sides both came out on top in seven of the relay competitions.

The girls’ 10 and under relay team of Eve Hind, Lucy Alfrink, Lottie Richardson and Libby Parker won the 4x25m freestyle and the 4x25m medley.

The girls 11 and under relay quartet of Tallulah Richards, Frankie Reed, Ellie Harle and Ruby Ingles came first in the 4x25m medley.

Richards, Reed and Harle were joined by Libby Nawarycz to clinch the 4x25m freestyle relay. The girls’ 12 and under team of Amelie Fox-Haskins, Olivia Eggleton, Issy Wilkinson and Frankie Reed completed the Worcester girls’ relay dominance with a time of 1.12.35 to secure the 4x25m medley relay crown.
