YOUNG rising Bransford star Harry Chadwick is celebrating his biggest success to date.

Chadwick, who plays off two, became the club champion over 36 holes.

The 19-year-old was second after the first 18, just a shot behind course manager Graham Wallace, but he then stepped up to shoot a five-under-par round in the scratch event.

His 67, along with his first-round 74 for a total of 141, was one shot ahead of Wallace (71+71=142) and Ollie Walker (81+70=151) finished third.

Chadwick had the best nett score too but under the rules could not win both trophies.

The handicap trophy went to Paul Symonds (69+71=140) by just one from Joe Turner and Steve Collins who both finished on 70+71=141.

Alan Ford won the seniors' championship scratch trophy with 88+84=172.

He was two ahead of runner-up Roy Burston who had the lowest gross on the second day of 81 with 10 pars after a poor first round of 93.

Dave Wild (87+87) was edged out on countback after both finished with 174 gross.

Graham Wilks scored 89+98=187, Mike Davidge 101+87=188, John Phillips 93+96=189 and Ferey Ghani 90+99=189.

Phillips missed out in the scratch event but still defended the handicap trophy he won last year.

Playing off 21, he managed a nett of 72+75=147, just two ahead of Brian Taylor (77+72=149).

Wild's (74+74) and Burston’s (81+69) scores were 148 and 150 respectively but players could not win more than one prize.

Wilks got 71+80=151, Keith Edgell 79+73=152, Phil Spencer 78+74=152 and Neil Holbrow 75+77=152.

The ladies' club championship went to Jodie Bennett with 86 to win by eight from Lesley Lammas and Jenny Bennett.

But Jenny took the plaudits in the handicap championship as she eased home from her daughter by 11.

Their respective scores were 74+72=146 and 72+85=157 with Lammas third on 81+79=160.

In the seniors' July stableford, the winners of each division topped the 40-point mark.

Chris Cale won Division One with 42 while Davidge was second on 41 and Burston had 40.

And 42 was enough for Geoff Aston to claim Division Two from Mike Weaver, Phillips, Ivor Lloyd and Martin Linley on 37.

Brian Corfield showed the way in Division Three with 41 from Dick Bettsworth on 39 and Colin Weeden on 37 with Mike and Cynthia Holmes on 36.

Neil Sheldon was second overall in the Tewkesbury Park seniors' individual open and second in Division Two (17/28 handicaps) with 41 points.

Bransford are inviting entries for their annual pro-am event on Sunday, August 26.

There will be a host of prizes for both professionals and amateurs and all six par-three holes will offer nearest the pin prizes.

There will also be a longest drive winner.
