MANAGER John Snape hopes the changes to Worcester City’s board will result in more bumper crowds – especially at home.

City fans made up a fair chunk of the 231 who witnessed Saturday’s 3-2 opening-day defeat at Boldmere St Michaels.

Lapsed fans flocked to the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground after four new directors got appointed this week with Steve Goode replacing Anthony Hampson as chairman.

“The support was fantastic and you could tell there was a buzz about the place when we met the new board members at training on Thursday night,” said Snape.

“They are very enthusiastic and hopeful the club can move forward. Seeing them gave the players a lift.

“They have been very transparent and with the support we had at Boldmere, that can hopefully translate into bigger gates at home matches so we can show this league how well supported we are and how the city backs this club.”
