A CAREER-best display by Old Vigornians captain Alex Parker was the highlight of a 98-run victory over Wormelow at New Road.

The left-arm spinner bowled a controlled spell of 7-47 from 17 overs as the visitors were dismissed for 112 in Worcestershire League Division Two.

Parker received good support in particular from young fast bowler Max Richardson (2-28).

Earlier Parker helped the Worcester side post 210-9 after they had been in trouble against accurate bowling with Luke Sparrow and Ali Main taking four wickets each.

After Osman Fiaz (55) scored his fourth half-century of the season with help from Joe Sullivan (27) and Will Burgoyne (26), OVs collapsed from 113-1 to 151-7 after 42 overs.

But the captain scored a rapid 17 to help Azmat Riaz (21 not out) and Dave Haddock (22) get the old boys past 200.

A career-best 170 not out by skipper Aidan Thompson and a six-wicket haul from Ivan Campbell-Ferguson led the seconds to a 35-run victory at Wormelow in Division Two.

Thompson’s innings included 23 boundaries with three sixes and came from 160 balls.

He shared partnerships of 77 with Tony Meek (15) for the first wicket, 62 with Chris Drew (33) for the second and 115 with James Bader (35) for the third.

OVs posted 268-3 in 50 overs and were only restricted by Wormelow captain Jordan Reading who was the most economical bowler with 1-27 from 12 overs.

After Campbell-Ferguson picked up two early wickets, Jamie Langford (56) and Dylan Baynham produced a third-wicket partnership of 95.

When Elliot Turner removed Langford, Baynham moved from playing a supporting role to attacking.

He survived two dropped catches from difficult chances before reaching his 100 from 125 balls.

Wormelow reached 215-5 in the 44th over but the run-rate was escalating and Campbell-Ferguson bowled Baynham for 100.

Although Alex Whittal made 37, no one else could stay with him and the final five wickets went for 18 runs.

Campbell-Ferguson (6-69) finished with his first senior five-wicket haul.
