THE oldest player yet stepped into the breach for Worcester Cricket Club's fourths.

Eric Kemp, 82, filled in for an absent team member to help out his son Jeremy who is captain.

On holiday from St Ives, Cornwall, Kemp was visiting his son and volunteered to play against Barnards Green thirds at Newland.

The veteran batted at number 11 for 0 not out and fielded as the team lost by 10 wickets in Worcestershire League Division Seven.

Worcester were bowled out for 148 in 37 overs and Green strolled home with 150-0 inside 21.
