TWO Worcester St John’s Cycling Club riders tackled the Welsh National 10-mile Time Trial Championships in Pontypool.

Veterans Paul Guest and Jason Milner finished 22nd and 38th in 21 minutes 11 seconds and 22.37 respectively.

There were 140 riders in the men’s race with 35 more in the women's, juniors' and juveniles' events.

Despite wet, breezy conditions and spray on the roads, conditions were not slow.

Evesham's Aimee Lane, 14, from Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club took the juvenile girls' win for the second time in 25.20.

Four St John's riders tackled the Coventry CC open time trial.

Adrian Murray clocked 24.29, Rikky Hughes 24.07, Mark Cooper 23.35 and Martin Stanley 23.33.

Thirty-four riders did a club 10-mile time trial at Chance Lane.

Simon Garrett won in 22.0 with Graham Browning (VC Sevale) second in 22.05.

Mark Daffin clocked 22.30 and fifth-placed Nikki Juniper (NJC) was the fastest woman in 23.29.

Tom Mansfield (365 Velo RC) had the fastest road bike for eighth in 23.45.

New club member Jack Dennehy did his first time trial in 30.51.
