WORCESTER Wolves have signed prolific shooter and England Commonwealth Games ace Adam Thoseby.

The 6ft 5ins guard, 26, impressed in the Gold Coast with an average of 14.5 points per game as England exited in the qualifying finals.

Although born in Melbourne, he moved to the United Kingdom with his British mother from a young age where he was introduced to basketball.

Thoseby began in the English League playing for Reading Rockets from 2009 until 2010 before moving to Maine Central Institute Preparatory School, USA, to study and pursue basketball further.

He enjoyed a four-year college career in the NCAA with Utah State, South Dakota and Georgia where in his final year he averaged 15.3 points, five rebounds and three assists per game.

Thoseby moved to Australian Big V side Knox Raiders for his rookie year where he averaged 18.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per match.

He joined Australian NBL side Sydney Kings last season and then played for Team Sioux Falls in the Eurobasket Summer League.

Thoseby, who represented Great Britain at the European Under 20 Championships, said: “England is the birthplace of my basketball career so being able to come back and compete at the highest level in the UK is very exciting.

"I’m ready for this next challenge with Wolves and to bring back a title to the club. I can’t wait to get started.”

Wolves managing director Mick Donovan said: “We are delighted to be introducing Adam to the BBL as a Wolves player and really believe he is a significant signing for the club.

"He will certainly bring a different and exciting dimension to our team.

"He has shown he is an exceptional shooter yet also possesses many other strengths at both ends of the floor.”

Wolves are preparing for their first British Basketball League game of the season against Plymouth Raiders on Friday, September 21, at the University of Worcester Arena.
