LATE decisions on the fitness of George Forsyth and Jamie Smith will be made in the build up to Worcester City’s home clash with Stourport Swifts today (3pm).

Both have struggled with injury during the early part of the campaign, playing in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Coventry United before being sidelined for the midweek trip to Coventry Sphinx.

Forsyth is awaiting a scan on a troublesome knee while Smith is due to have a similar assessment on a long-standing shoulder complaint that affects his neck.

Neither trained on Saturday with Smith having a pre-arranged family commitment and assistant boss Ashley Vincent advising Forsyth not to risk aggravating his injury on the 3G surface City use, which is typically harder on joints than grass.

“George is a little better, he has had the sore knee since the start of the season but we will see how that settles head of the game,” said Vincent.

“Jamie’s problem has to be taken on a day-by-day basis, it is a long-standing complaint related to his shoulder. We will consider both lads on the day of the game."

There are three players poised to return with Dave Reynolds and Luke English, the victims of a disciplinary gaffe unrelated to club personnel in midweek, back from suspension and Kyonn Evans fit for consideration.

“Kyonn should be ready to go. He has had back trouble which seized up again before the Coventry Sphinx game but we are hopeful he will be fine,” added Vincent, who estimates striker Nick Turton is “another couple of weeks” away from a return from his twisted knee.

“Turts has been around and we know he has been looking after himself so we are hoping once his knee is stable that he won’t be far off getting some minutes,” said Vincent ahead of watching Stourport's home FA Cup clash with Sporting Khalsa.

“It is a Bank Holiday, a local game and one that has a lot of elements," he said.

“The Mark Danks link adds some spice, I was not here last season but he was the year above me in the youth team at Wolves. I have known him for a long time.

“I know all of those factors come into play mentally but once it kicks off we have to take all of those out of the equation and treat it as we would any another game.”
