KEVIN Sharp says Worcestershire are to make contact with Martin Guptill about the possibility of him being available for Vitality Blast finals day at Edgbaston on September 15.

But the County’s head coach admitted it would depend how Guptill’s team Barbados Tridents fare in the Caribbean Premier League.

Guptill played in Rapids' opening eight Blast matches of 2018, scoring a memorable century in his final appearance against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Wantage Road.

He then linked up with Tridents who are fifth out of six teams in the CPL although they have games in hand.

The knockout stages take place on September 11, 12 and 14 with two qualifiers and an eliminator before the final on September 16.

Sharp said: “It will depend on what happens in the West Indies but we will be on his case.

“He knows that. We did say if we got to finals day that we would be in touch with him.

“I think it will depend on how his team goes in the West Indies. It would be great if we could see him on finals day.”

Wayne Parnell is already confirmed as one of the possible two overseas players allowed in the Blast for finals day.

But Callum Ferguson flies back to Australia this week after scoring a match-winning half-century in the quarter-final win over Gloucestershire.
