WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids have been drawn against Lancashire Lightning in the Vitality Blast semis on finals day at Edgbaston on Saturday, September 15.

Rapids overcame Lightning by five wickets with one ball to spare in the North Group at Emirates Old Trafford in the opening game of their 2018 campaign.

Lightning scored 188-6 with George Rhodes returning 2-27 and then Rapids reached 190-5 in reply thanks to Joe Clarke (42), Brett D’Oliveira (37 not out) and Callum Ferguson (35).

The return meeting with Lancashire at Blackfinch New Road on July 29 was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.

Lancashire finished third in the North Group behind table-topping Rapids and Durham Jets and defeated Kent Spitfires in Thursday’s quarter-final at Canterbury.

In the other semi Sussex Sharks will take on the winners of the Somerset and Notts Outlaws tie.

No play was possible at Taunton today and the two teams will try again to resolve the tie tomorrow.

The running order for finals day and whether Rapids will be part of the first or second semi-final is still to be decided.
