ASHLEY Vincent reckons a new resolute edge has proved decisive in Worcester City’s three-match winning streak.

City went five matches without a victory at the start of the season before registering a first triumph in a blood-and-thunder battle at Coventry Sphinx.

That was followed by a fluent display at home to Stourport Swifts prior to Saturday's muck-and-bullets success with 10 men for more than half the match at Shepshed Dynamo.

AFC Wulfrunians head to the Victoria Ground tonight (7.45) with a hit-and-miss record, putting together three Midland Football League Premier Division wins before enduring a trio of losses.

That run was emphatically ended with a 3-0 victory at Highgate United on Saturday, a much-fancied team that had shipped just one goal in all competitions prior to the weekend.

Jake Webb’s treble did the damage at The Coppice, showing why City have no room for complacency.

“It is no secret that Highgate have some good players and 3-0 is a thumping so we will certainly not be taking Wulfrunians lightly,” said Vincent.

“People will look at our results and say there have been some funny ones in there so it should be a good game between two teams that have shown what they are capable of.”

Vincent wants a heady mix of substance and style as Worcester go in search of a fourth straight success but insists striking the right balance will be key.

“In our first two games we looked open at both ends and that was not where we wanted to be,” he added.

“We should not have to score three or four goals to win a match. We were giving ourselves no chance so we tightened up a bit because we know we have the players to create chances and score goals.

“That balance has been there in the past few games so it is a happy camp at the moment.

“We want to play the same way we did against Stourport but if we can’t and it has to be like Saturday we will still be happy as long as we get the result.”

Frontrunners Jordan Harrison and Dave Reynolds are expected to be fit for the clash despite being withdrawn from action at Shepshed.

Reynolds in particular was a concern having grasped his hamstring and hobbled off but Vincent has faith in his powers of recovery.

“Jordan came off on the back of a couple of knocks but he is a tough kid and I think he’ll be fine,” said Vincent.

“I’d expect Reyno to be alright as well. We should be in a position to name a similar squad.”
