He won the George Knight Memorial Cup with 18-hole efforts of 63 nett and 68 for a total of 131.

Collis Fisher (67+66=133) was second with Tony Solomon (64+71=135) third.

Price earned a handicap reduction to 12 after carding a birdie on the 11th, 10 pars, six bogies and a double bogey on the 12th.

Andy Young won 3&2 against Dennis Morse in the Fred Gough seniors' singles matchplay final.

Young’s route to the final started with a qualifier against Bob Wood then he bulldozed his way past Tony Cooper, Phil Rowland and Phil Lane.

A no-return for zero on the fourth and four single-points scores did not prove too costly as her handicap was cut to 29.

Ed Nicklin and Brace won 2&1, Mick Huggins and Malcolm Stanley 2&1 and Malcolm Shepherd and newcomer Mark Cound 3&1.
