SEVERN Stars have signed England international and Vitality Netball Superleague winner Lucy Harris.

The mid-court star, 22, who won the league in 2018 with Wasps and was part of the England team in the Malawi Series, is the first new player to join for the 2019 campaign.

Harris said: “I am really looking forward to meeting all my new team-mates and coaching staff and am ready to see what we can pull together this season.

“I really pushed myself last year and developed a lot of mental resilience and I’m ready to bring that to my new team.

"I think Stars’ style of being fast-paced suits me well and I am excited to step out on court.”

Harris’ competitive career was kickstarted in 2012 when she won the national school championships with her under 16s team.

She went on to represent England under 19s in the 2014 Glasgow Tour.

Jodie Gibson and Iona Darroch have already been confirmed as staying with Stars.

Head coach Sam Bird said: “Lucy is a fantastic addition to our squad in the mid-court.

"She’s a hard-working, rapid middie and has the flair that suits our Severn Stars style.”
