HOTSHOT Dave Reynolds has left Worcester City for Redditch United.

Reynolds, City’s leading scorer with 30 goals last season, will take the chance to jump up two levels following an approach from new Reds manager Paul Smith.

The ex-Malvern Town striker is still recovering from ankle ligament damage sustained at the start of the month in a home clash with AFC Wulfrunians but will head over to the Valley Stadium once the paperwork is completed.

“He is a massive loss,” said City boss John Snape.

“Dave felt he had to take the opportunity at a higher level at this stage of his career.

“The one saving grace is that it has been sorted out pretty quickly and the club will now move forward looking at opportunities for the younger players in the squad while searching for an adequate replacement.

“Everyone wants a prolific striker in their ranks so if and when the right player comes along it is something we will have to consider carefully.”

Reynolds leaves having bagged 34 goals since signing in the summer of 2017. He notched four of those in eight outings this season, missing the trip to Coventry Sphinx due to an administration error by a referee and City's past three matches due to injury.
