JOEL Caines was our Worcester City star man at Walsall Wood. Who was yours?

DAN JEZEPH 6.5

Very little to do but tidied up and came from his line efficiently on the few occasions he was required.

LUKE ENGLISH 7.5

A strong performance at right-back and right wing-back.

Plucked from Studley in the summer, his game is steadily developing. His tenacity played a big part in the breakthrough goal.

JAMIE SMITH 7.5

A solid return for Smith who slotted into a back three having started at full-back. Part of a mean backline that did not give a sniff to Wood’s dangerous attack.

GEORGE FORSYTH 7.5

From centre-half to midfield anchor, again providing the platform for his City colleagues to shine.

JORDAN STODDART 7

Solid, reliable and even able to recover when faced with a series of well-weighted balls from Gavin Hurren during the first half. Not always comfortable but got the job done.

STAR MAN – JOEL CAINES 7.5

Played the same roles as Forsyth, in the opposite order but just as effectively.

Ashley Vincent’s assertion that City would be far harder to break down with Caines in the side was proven.

JAMES BALDWIN 6.5

Opened his usual box of tricks, plenty of buzz about his play but still lacking that end product. Working hard to catch his breaks, though.

CHRIS WITHINGTON 7

Broke up play well, got around the pitch and got City on the attack at times. Final ball still needs work but they are coming off more often by the week.

JORDAN HARRISON 7.5

Lacked the support required to make an impact in the first half but refused to give in and popped up with a pair of goals in the second.

Not at his best but still decided the game, a sign of his quality.

LIAM LOCKETT 6.5

Good in spells, quiet in others. Not the sort of game that suits his style but played with maturity that belied his years.

ADAM OSBOURNE 6.5

Solid at full and then wing-back without quite offering as much as he might going forward.
