THREE Worcester City Youth sides maintained their unbeaten starts to the season.

The under 10s and under 11s overcame Darren Bent Academy and Stourbridge respectively.

The latter showed belief and teamwork to fight back after falling three goals behind.

Also maintaining their 100 per cent record were the under 15s who defeated WMA Barnsley 3-2 in a close clash with goals from Alex Watts and an Archie Mears double.

Quick reactions from Joe Clarke, not once but twice following up a rebound off the post and then a penalty save, ensured City made it three wins on the spin in the Midland Floodlit Youth League side after a 2-1 victory at Lye Town.

Two late goals after a hard-working display saw the girls' under 10s narrowly beaten by West Worcester.

It was the same for the under 18s who led going into the final quarter against Nottingham Education after Tom Mills netted a spectacular 30-yarder but were beaten by two goals in quick succession.

Meanwhile, the reserves were made to pay after spurning early chances against a strong Moors Academy side in the Midland League.

Ethan Moran initially equalised their opponents’ opening goal but City then slipped 5-1 behind before a late rally almost resulted in the hosts snatching a draw.

Strikes from Joel Owusu and Hassan Shah were followed by a strong penalty shout and a Matty Patrick-Rivers’ effort crashing back off the bar.

There were no JPL fixtures for the under 12s or under 13s who got some useful game-time under their belts in friendly defeats to Kettering Town and Central Ajax respectively.
