WORCESTER City's preparations for Saturday's trip to South Normanton Athletic (3pm) have been hampered by a flu bug hitting the camp.

Assistant manager Ashley Vincent is among those to have been laid low this week with the health of those affected set to be judged at training tonight.

“The team selection will have to be judged as late as possible with four or five of us going down with it,” said Vincent.

“It has hit me and I haven’t been around this week, partly through being ill and partly to avoid giving it to any of the other lads.

“Birls (player-coach Mat Birley) is taking training tonight and he will let me know who is there and how they are feeling.”

“It started around Saturday evening and Sunday so I am hopeful we will be as close to full strength as possible by the time the game arrives but it has wiped out a few of us this week.”

Tyler Weir is fit to play with striker Nick Turton set to train with City tonight for the first time since sustaining knee damage at Redditch United in pre-season.

“We will talk about how he does but I would think Turts needs a couple of weeks building up his fitness before being available for selection,”

“He is an experienced player who knows his body so those conversations will happen along the way and as soon as he feels ready, he will come into contention straight away.”
