SIMEON Chapman won the Turner Shield by one shot at Worcester's Ravenmeadow and Perdiswell Park Golf Club.

Chapman (13 handicap) carded 64 nett to beat Reiss Sadler (15) on 65.

Mark Tyrrell (18) was third on countback from Duncan Frederics (6) with both scoring 66.

Most of the 43 players got a soaking in the rain before their rounds were complete.

Coping best with the conditions was Chapman who included birdies on the seventh and 10th holes plus nine pars to reduce his handicap to 12.

His only real problems came on the fifth, 13th and 15th holes where he recorded double bogies.

On-song Tony Solomon won a close mixed club stableford with 37 points as his handicap was cut from 24 to 23.

The next three players got 36 with countback making Collis Fisher (24) 36 second, Moyra Bodley (34) third and Tony Walker (17) fourth.

A birdie on the third and just three pars combined with his handicap allowance got Solomon over the line despite six double bogies and three triples.

The President’s Cup was claimed by Peter Jansen (27) with 63 nett from Malcolm Shepherd (12) on 64.

Tim Delaney (17) took third on 65 from Solomon (25) on 67.

Jansen had five pars in his round and made use of his shots in hand with six double bogies and a triple on the 17th.  His handicap fell to 26.

A hefty field of 52 players took to the tees with just nine playing to or under nett par.

The Sunday Medal Eclectic round six of 11 went to Daniel Brown (23) with 60 nett from Jamie Newton (12) on 63 and Joe Jackson (18) on 65.

Simon Lister (19) was fourth on 67 after edging out Dave Thomas and Phil Lane on countback.

Brown birdied the sixth, carded three pars and only had one double bogey in his round.  His handicap was reduced to 21.
